An event in the Christ definition is a beginning of a relationship.

‘Ratzinger’s belief that a knowledge of language and symbols of the Christian tradition is a necessary component of catechesis and that in itself is best received by being immersed in a Christian community and sharing in its practices is another position shared by such philosophers of tradition such as Mac Intyre and also by linguistic philosophers who follow the expressive theory of language.’ This could mean that a disabled person who cannot speak, see or understand in parts can be taught by effective and affective catechesis. ‘Ratzinger suggests that the question is whether reason or rationality stands at the beginning of all things and is grounded in the basis of all things or not? He believes the answer is yes.’   ‘The first paragraph of Dues Caritas Est announces that being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty ideal but the encounter with an event, a person, who gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction. This event is guided by the Holy Spirit and fostered by the Sacraments and the teaching of the Magisterium. Christianity is not an intellectual system, a collection of dogmas or a moralism. Christianity is a love story it is an event.’

An event is a time when metanoia occurs, it is so important that the moment when the real love story begins is an event worth thinking about. When Fr Norris passed his mitigated St Ignatius spiritual diary on to me I new this was an event that had such great significance.
